Say what matters now. We'll make sure they hear it.

Write the letter. Record the video. Gather the details your family would otherwise spend months searching for. It stays private while you're here. If you stop signing in for as long as you choose, we deliver it to the people you named.

No card needed · free for 6 months · plans from USD 16 a year. Works in any country.

Most of what we mean to say never gets written down

We all assume there will be time: a quiet evening to tell our children what we're proud of, to show our partner where the insurance papers are, to say sorry, or thank you, properly.

Then life happens. And the people we love are left with a phone full of photos, a drawer of unlabelled keys, and questions nobody can answer.

Tellafter is the quiet evening, kept safe until it's needed. You write it once, update it whenever life changes, and it reaches the right people at the right time, in your own words and your own voice.

What you can leave behind

Private while you're here. Delivered only to the people you choose.

The words

A letter with no length limit: memories, advice, apologies, hopes. Saved as you type, with every version kept.

Your voice and face

Video messages and voice recordings they can play in their browser. Hearing you say it is different from reading it.

The practical details

Where things are, who to call, which policies exist, what to do first, with scanned documents attached and checked for malware.

A message for each person

Write one for your children, another for your partner, another for your best friend. Each goes only to the people you add.

Three people, three reasons

Everyone who uses Tellafter has their own reason. Here are three. (These are illustrations of how it can be used, not real customers.)

Maria, 38

Nurse, night shifts, single mum of two

Maria drives home at 3 a.m. more often than she'd like. On those drives she thinks about her kids, Tomas and Bea, and everything they'd never know if something happened to her.

One Sunday evening she wrote it all down: a letter for each of them to open when they're older, what their dad's side of the family is really like, Bea's allergy and the doctor who understands it. She recorded a video reading their favourite bedtime story, the one with the voices.

She named her sister and her best friend as recipients and chose three months. Maria signs in on her phone most weeks without thinking about it, and every sign-in quietly restarts the clock.

"It took one evening. Now I leave for a shift without carrying it all in my head."

  • 2 messages, one per child
  • Bedtime-story video
  • Sent after 3 months without signing in

Daniel, 67

Retired engineer, married 41 years

For four decades Daniel has handled the money: the bank accounts, the insurance, the pension, the man who services the boiler. His wife Ruth has never needed to. Daniel realised that if he went first, she'd be grieving and searching at the same time.

So he wrote her a guide, the way he'd write a manual: which bank, which policies, which bills pay themselves, where the deeds are, which friend to call first. He scanned the documents and attached them. At the end he added a letter about the flat they rented the year they met.

He chose six months, and signs in when he checks his pension each month. When he changes insurer he updates the guide, and every earlier version is kept.

"I'm not leaving her a puzzle. I'm leaving her a plan, and a love letter at the end of it."

  • Step-by-step guide plus documents
  • A letter for Ruth
  • 3-year plan, paid once

Leila, 33

Lives abroad, manages a heart condition

Leila's heart condition is under control, and she'd rather keep it that way than worry her parents back home with hard conversations over video calls.

Instead she writes to them, a little at a time: what she's grateful for, the friends who'd want to hear the news, who should take her dog, Pepper, and the photos from every trip, with the stories behind them. She started on the free plan with a single message, then chose the three-year plan so she could add videos from the places she's lived.

She also told her parents, through Tellafter, that they've been chosen to receive a message one day. That's all the email said, so they know to expect it and it won't end up in spam.

"I don't have to have the conversation I'm dreading. I just have to keep writing."

  • One growing message
  • Travel videos and photos
  • 3-year plan

How it works

You set it up once. Signing in now and then keeps everything private.

  1. Write itWrite your message and add videos, recordings and documents. A draft is never sent to anyone.
  2. Choose who and whenAdd the people who should receive it and pick a period: 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks without hearing from you.
  3. Live your lifeEvery sign-in restarts the clock. Change your message whenever you like; every version is kept.
  4. We check firstIf you stop signing in, we email you before anything is sent (7, 3 and 1 days before, or on the days you choose). One sign-in stops it.
  5. They receive itEach person gets a private link, confirms it's them with a code, and reads, watches and downloads what you left.

Private until the moment it matters

The safeguards are built into the software, not left to good intentions.

  • Optional two-step sign-in and private, malware-checked storage. Recipients need their link and a code.
  • Nothing is sent while you keep signing in, and we email you before anything goes out.
  • Recipients confirm it's them with a code sent to their email, so a forwarded link alone isn't enough.
  • Sent while you're fine? Sign in, choose Stop access, and every link stops working at once.

Questions people ask first

What if I'm just busy, travelling or ill?

You choose the period and when we remind you (7, 3 and 1 days before by default). Every reminder has an I'm OK button: one tap, no password, and the countdown starts again. If it's ever sent by mistake, Stop access turns every link off at once.

Is this a legal will?

No. It's a private message delivered to the people you choose. If you need a legally binding will, make one where you live; you can tell your family in your message where it's kept.

What happens on the free plan?

You can write one message, and it's kept for 6 months. We remind you before anything is deleted, and you can choose a plan at any time to keep it.
